Family Strategy

Your Parenting Road Map

A personalised roadmap built for the family you actually have, not a generic template. Together we map who each of you is, what triggers each person, and what actually brings your family back to calm.

The mapping work

What we map together

A 3-part framework

How it works

Step one

Know Yourself

We name your patterns, your values, your dynamics, clearly and honestly, and we get to the invisible drivers behind each family member’s behaviour, the things underneath the behaviour that nobody’s named out loud yet. Self awareness is the foundation of everything else.

Know Yourself also means knowing each other, because awareness asks three questions. What’s going on in me? What’s going on in you? What’s going on in the environment? Asked together, as a kind of family mantra, those questions alone can be a fundamental game changer within a family unit.

Step two

Grow Yourself

You build tools for regulation, patience and presence. You learn to respond instead of react. The environment you create materially impacts how everyone in the family grows. Shift that environment for the better, and you give each person room to grow into their own better version, whatever that looks like for them.

Step three

Show Yourself

You become the model you want your kids to follow. Calm. Connected. Honest. Accountable. It’s about expression and communication, showing up as the parent you most want to be for your complex child, and the parent they most need you to be.

Along the way you’ll pick up tools like MWYWOW, and many others. They’re practical, simple, and easy to access when you need them, both proactive and reflective, and reactive and reflective, depending on what the moment calls for.

Why this works

I’ve lived it.

Twenty years raising my own high needs kids. Fifteen years studying and teaching the science of parenting. Every Family Strategy I build is grounded in both.

There’s something incredibly powerful about combining applied skill and knowledge with lived experience, and that’s what I bring to my coaching, mentoring, speaking, and Family Strategy work.

Start with the Quick Match

A few questions so I can see whether a Family Strategy is the right fit for your family, and what it would need to cover. It takes about five minutes, and nothing is shared with anyone else.

This one matters. I ask it so that if your family needs a different kind of help right now, you get pointed towards it before anything else happens.

Questions parents ask

Frequently asked questions

If your question isn’t here, put it in the Quick Match and I’ll answer it directly.

Yes, often. Many of the families I work with have a child with an ADHD diagnosis, sometimes more than one. Family Strategy isn’t built around any single diagnosis, it’s built around your specific family, so whatever’s going on for your child with ADHD gets mapped alongside everything else happening in your home, not treated as the whole story.

Yes. Autistic children and their families are very much part of who I work with. I don’t treat autism, and Family Strategy isn’t a substitute for the therapies or supports your child might already have. What it does is help you understand what’s actually happening in your home, build regulation tools that fit your specific child, and shape an environment where your autistic child, and everyone else in the family, has room to do well.

Yes. Anxiety shows up constantly in the families I work with, in kids and often in parents too. We map what triggers anxiety for each person, what actually brings them back to calm, and how the wider home environment feeds or eases it. This isn’t therapy for anxiety, but it works well alongside it.

Yes. Sensory sensitivity runs through a lot of the families I support, whether or not it’s formally diagnosed. Understanding what overwhelms a child’s nervous system, and what helps them settle, is central to the Stress GPS mapping we do together.

Yes. Learning differences often carry their own emotional weight, frustration, shame, a child who’s clearly bright but struggling at school, and that emotional layer is exactly what Family Strategy addresses. I’m not a learning specialist and don’t replace one, I help your family work through the feelings and dynamics that build up around school struggles.

Yes, this is a large part of the work. Whether or not there’s a formal diagnosis, families dealing with intense, explosive, or oppositional behaviour are exactly who Family Strategy is built for. We map what’s driving the behaviour, what regulates it, and how to shift the environment around it so those explosions have less to feed on.

Twice exceptional kids often get missed, bright enough that the struggle gets dismissed, or intense enough that the giftedness gets overlooked. Family Strategy doesn’t need a label to work, it maps what’s actually happening for your specific child, gifted, struggling, or both at once.

Yes, completely. Most of what I do isn’t built around diagnosis at all. It’s built around your family’s actual patterns, triggers, and dynamics, which matter whether or not a diagnosis is involved.

No. Family Strategy is parenting and family coaching, not psychology, psychiatry, medicine, or therapy. I don’t diagnose or treat. Many families work with me alongside their existing therapist, OT, or psychiatrist, and that combination tends to work well, I handle the family system and home environment, they handle the clinical side.

No. I don’t diagnose, test, or assess for any condition. If it looks like a formal assessment would help your family, I’ll say so and help you find the right professional.

There’s always room for growth and improvement, regardless of your children’s ages. I’ve worked with families with toddlers, and families with adult children still living at home. What changes is the detail, not whether the process applies. This work is really about you, the parent, shifting your state, uplifting and empowering you. Because of that, it doesn’t matter what age your children are, you can always be supported.

It works best with as many caregivers involved as possible, since the goal is one shared strategy, not two different ones. That said, I’ve worked with single parents, and with separated co-parents who complete the process independently across two homes.

Yes. Family Strategy maps how many homes your children are parented across and builds that into the strategy itself, rather than assuming every family looks the same.

Yes, and it’s common. Family Strategy works alongside therapy, OT, psychiatry, or school based support. It focuses on the family system and home environment, which complements the clinical work rather than duplicating it.

The process happens online. It’s as short as two weeks or as long as six weeks, depending on how much time you have available to complete the sessions and questionnaires.

The free resources and cheat sheets give you a taste of the tools I use. Family Strategy is the full, personalised version, built entirely around your specific family rather than general advice. The Parenting Complex Kids course and Nourishing Neurodiversity webinar sit in between, more depth than the free tools, without the full one on one process.
